So here is dumb idea that might just happen.

The exhaust is rattling bad, probably rust is causing it(I’ll throw it on jack stands later today to see how bad it is.) Since I’m cheap & do dumb things it could work. I would go full stainless steel, but since that’s expensive. I do a side dump to reduce material costs, & it also look incredible . Maybe downpipe back, the 2nd O2 sensor is after the 1s t cat so removing the 2nd cat would not throw any codes. Stupid & cost effective.

That’s fair enough. I’ve sunk too much money into my 328i to think about swapping it for something else now.

when you say side dump, i’m guessing you want it infr o nt of the rear wheel. I tried doing this with a past vehicle, I think the Sport Trac, and it wasn’t produced like that because at a stop the exhaust gasses could rise and go in an open window.  If you do go that path, you should check that you are not going to run into any issues for vehicle inspections.

Wrap it with some high temp foil tape? Only $10 from Evilzon. Then the steel exhaust and aluminum tape should oxidize together.

I have not even checked how bad it is yet. I have hose clamps, empty b eer cans, & JB weld for a quick temporary fix.
